missing black ghost knife

hello all, first post on the forum.

so i woke up this morning and my black ghost knife is MIA. he was 5 or maybe 6 inches long. aquarium mates include small 5" gar, 4" green terror, 10" armoured catfish, 10" banded leporinus, 3" parrot fish, one 3-7" albino frog. about a dozen feeder goldfish remain in the tank, however, two dozen guppies have been eaten in the last 12 hours. there is no evidence that the ghost knife was eaten but if he was what would have done this? both the catfish and leporinus have a mouth the size of a pea and have never eaten anything but pellets and worms....the gar and GT are both adolescents. im dumbfounded...

Could be just hiding. Black ghost knives are good at hiding

i wish that were the case...he has two logs that he likes to hide in...i took out both logs...no ghost knife. there is nowhere else to hide.

Could he have jumped? Look around the tank to see if he got out

that was my first thought...i looked around the tank and didnt see anything but, the only place he could have jumped is out of the back next to the left filter. i didnt see him behind the aquarium but if he flopped under the stand i will have no way of checking. but he had to have...right?

Eaten by what though? The gar is super aggressive but the same length and half the size of the
Ghost...and why go after the ghost with so many feeder fish available and after eating 2 dozen guppies? Just doesn't make sense...

Most likely he's under the stand then. I would look all around though just to make sure he didn't flop somewhere else

Did you look in the filter? I know that is a dumb question but I have had 3 different types of fish somehow make thier way into my filter. Maybe by dumb luck but they did.
