Hi,

Last week I went away for the weekend, leaving my 4 foot tank on it's own. Before I left I had 2 bronze corys, 1 peppered cory and two 1inch synodontis. Since I got back, I've not seen the synodontis (given I have a rock pile, but before I left they would come wondering out every now and then, especially when I fed them!). I left an external running, with the inlet pipe just hanging in the middle of the tank, but this has never caused any problems to any of the fish (inc the syno's) before. I haven't tried moving the rocks yet, but what are the chances they've been eaten, ucked up into the filter (they weren't there when I cleaned it mind....), or are dead, but floating in the rock pile?

Cheers in advanced

Did you leave the lights on or off?

I put them on a timer to come on for a few hours in the morning, and a few hours at night....rest of the time there was light from the window

check the rock pile

I torn down my reef yesterday looking for my mantis shrimp. He had been hiding underneath the sand for over a week...but he was there

I would say that they're hiding. I would have guaranteed it had you left the lights on the whole time.

Like others have already said, check the rock pile.

Right I will do....Just been a bit worried about them! Beautiful fish. Also missing a peppered cory which is really strange....maybe it's under there too. If they're not, what else might it be (so I can fix it and prevent it from happening again)???

cheers

Nah i doubt the jumped out. I've never seen them even come to the surface before, and the lid's always on, and closed. I'll probably move the rocks tomorrow....hopefully they'll be in there, but if not, then I'll be back here to try and get seom more answers!

Ok guys, I've removed all the rocks, and nothing. Neither of the 2 syndos in sight...mysterious, not to mention I've just lost £10 ($20) worth of fish just like that! Vanished..... Any thoughts? Corys won't eat them right? lol! Thats all I could think of....checked the filter again, and nout there either....
