missing fish... male guppies have been wiped out all bar one.... quite annoyed as i bought 3 particularly stunning males last week, no survivors, but also no "parts" which is odd.

I`m baffled as my community tank has been set up to avoid any potentional tank busters

at present in the 4 footer are:

a shoal of blue neon tetrsa
a shoal of black neon tetras
a shoal of white clound minnows
2 rummy nose
2 shrimps named Gilbert & Philbert
1 bronze cory`s
a pakistan/yoyo loach
shoal of platties
shoal of lemon tetras
3 red eye tetra
4 madagascar rainbows
pair of Aplocheilus Lineatus Goa
2x bolivian rams (male looks a bit thin at the moment)
3x clown loach (erics)(1.5"-6.5")
a huuuuge golden sucking loach (7")(bob)
a large silver (bala) shark (~7.5" - very stupid/timid) (Damien)
approx 5 Khuli loach (striped and one black named Douglass)
2 peppered corydorus
2 dwarf honey gourami (small)
an armoured shrimp (currently MIA - big eric looking suspicious)
and a guppy/molly cross

the madagascar rainbows have been seen chasing around, but wouldnt have thought they would eat one.. the lineatus are now fairly well sized, and look like they could, but neither night or day viewing has shown any signs of them acting predatory...?

I`m going to have a look in my external filer, as there is a slim chance they may have got snooked up.. it may also explain why i lost the siphon yesturday.. although the guppies went missing prior to this..

until i can confirm one way or another, i have put the guppies in my corner tank with the 2 shrimp, and the fry will go in there too once they are big enough (in a trap at the moment).

I`ve recently been swapping fish around as I`m using the corner tank as a holding pen for the smaller fish, and another 4 foot tank as a temporary tank for the larger ones, until the 6 foot is in and established....

would be nice to know who is eating who first...

For one, your tank is really overstocked, unless it is incredibly tall and deep. It will either have been the Golden Sucking Loach or the Bala shark, or if the fish have died then most of the other fish in your tank would quite happily have scavenged the remains.

I would also blame Damien:devil:. A while back I had to move a couple of tanks and thought that my balas would never eat guppies. However, the guppies slowly started disappearing and I didn't know what was happening until I actually saw a bala take one out.
