I came home from work and found one of my 5-6 inch parrot fish was gone... I searched the entire tank and even moved all the rocks around and still couldnt find it. I can only conclude that the Pacus ate him, even though they've been in the same tank for 7 months... :(

The other fish in the tank: 2 pacus (10" , 14"), 3 tinfoils (10", 10", 12"), 1 silver aro 14", 2 big plecos

It had to be the pacus right?

Do you mean blood parrot cichlid?

The pacus didn't eat him. I'm guessing it was the arowana. How big was the parrot?

The aro is still pretty small. the size of the blood parrot was at least 4-5 times the size of the aros head. The blood parrot was 5-6 inches.

Do any of the fish look fatter? Maybe he didnt get eaten, maybe he jumped? Do you have any cats or dogs? If the fish jumped they could of got it before you discovered it outside the tank.

Check all around the tank, maybe it jumped out.

edit: well you probably did, i dont mean to insult you. just check really well, youd be surprised

i blame the pacu that went carnivore like there cousins

I doubt the pacus eat your blood parrot but I still thinks its aro ate him or jump out of the tank...are you living alone at your home? Maybe someone saw your dead parrot floating the surface and netted it out of the tank?

I have a very heavy lid on top so jumping out is out of the question. I did notice that one of the pacus looked a bit more round. Ah this is frustrating, I hope the other blood parrot wont get eaten. I should probably find him another home. After vacuuming around the tank, I found an orange sliver of what looks like flesh? (it is pink on the inside and orange on the outside....!)
