missing raphael

I have (had?) a stripped raphael in a 112 gal tank. His tank mates are an oscar, JD, Severum, 5 SD. All are half the size of the raphael. Problem is I have not seen him for over a month. Is he that good at hidding? Or should I be looking for a dead boby?

Sometimes they are just that good at hiding.I cant find one of my spotteds right now. Maybe move stuff around the next time to do a water change?

I heard of one that was gone for 6 full years and then randomly swam past one day.

I now own him. I hope to see him more often than once every 6 years.

They are very good at hiding and fitting in places you wouldn't think they'd fit.

is it true that they can bury themselves in the gravel or sand?

Yes they can burrow under ornaments. I lost mine for months only to have him/her re emerge about 3-4 inches longer than when I got him/her. Now just too big to hide completely.
