the tank is a 75 gallon,no ammonia no nitrites and nitrates a little high-about 40 sometimes they get 80.my marbled sand goby is about 12 years old and 18 inches long.he is the only fish in this tank.he eats everything including sometimes feeder goldfish and rosy's.at first a couple of his scales where missing,i thought nothing of it because he is old.this has now gotten out of hand there are so many holes and some are now red.i always use aquaruim salt and i do have a uv steralizer on the tank.please help with any advice.i have now moved him to a smaller tank to start some kind of treatment.he is still eating and acting normal.

What other foods do you give him? How often do you give him goldfish and rosy reds? Both fish are high in thiaminase levels responsible for most cases of nutrient deficiency which seems to be the issue here. I'd stop feeding your goby those feeder fish. Add multivitamins on his food to help rectify the problem.

When was the last time you fed him feeders? Did you quarantine the feeders and did you always make it your routine to do so? The lack of quarantining procedures will not safeguard your pets from possible flukes, flagellates and other parasites most especially virulent infections which make it harder for us to correct the situation.

What treatment did you use so far?
