can u mix channa pleurophthalma & auranti together in one tank???thx

been a few threads on this. i did a search cuz i wanted to know a similar thing and i dont have the exp either. just do a search on this forum to get more info. bottom line: dont do it, fish will get hurt in the end. some peeps have done it but most came up with agression problems.

The problem you might have with Channa aurantimaculata they have a Winter: water temperature < 19 C° and Spring/summer: water temp. increasing slowly to 25 C° this will not do the pleurophthalma any good also you will need a large tank for the pleurophthalma as they are fast. and can smash them selfs into the tank.Channa of NE-India need a cold hibernation“

You might have a problem there chillier may be? living in the U.K it’s really not a problem our summers are like an Australian winter:D . Ok is not that bad but it’s not a problem from for us here. I got hold of one of the guys from Snakeheads.org he said they have to hibernate. I had my one in a tank with a Gar and a few other things and he was ok just the hibernation issue they should be in a tank on there own or something that can go down to low temperatures.

Some can some can’t a few of the Dwarf species are very tolerable of things they cant fit in there mouth but some of the larger species I.E Channa striata Channa micropeltes can be evil when fully grown I have had both and they ended up as 1 tank 1 fish but I do know of people who have kept reds with other fish but they have normally all been reared with each other.

To sum up its hit and miss and miss can some times be very expensive trust me I know:( .
