cichlid city
I really want to start mixing up the diet for my big cichlids.Does anybody have any ideas. For my reddevil i want to start with beefheart and some peas or other vegetables and maybe shrimp. For my buttikoferi i wonder if they can take beefheart bcecause it seems like a carnivore fish, with its two rows of sharp teeth.I regulary feed my butti earthworms and cichlid gold, and i regulary feed my reddevil wax worms and cichnlid gold, plus wardley cichlid pellets.Any help is apreciated.

Its important that your fish recieves a mixed diet to provide it with the nutrients it needs as this will help you get the most out of your fish in the form of good colour and size. I personally would advise that you stay away from beefheart though as fish are not equipt to break down animal fat and it also messes up your water if thawed out first. In my opinion if you feed your cichlids on a balanced diet of bloodworm, shrimp, cichlid pellets and possibly lancer fish you shoudnt go wrong atall, getting your cichlid to eat vegatation is also a good idea but i personally think u may struggled to get any carnivirous cichlids to accept anything non-meat based?
