I recently bought two 4-5 inch green terrors, i believe they are a male and a female.. anyone know how to tell the difference? The terros get along very very well suprisingly!! My friend then sold me a Jaguar Cichlid that he put in his tank with his Jardini Arowana and his arowana messed the jaguar up pretty bad... His fins are failry scruffy now.... The jaguar is fairly large about 6-8 inches...

Anyways I just want to know if I can mix these cichlids without having them kill each other??

they're in a 55 gallon... all these fish have been living in 10-20 gallon tanks for awhile so its much more room then they're used to

if the green terrors wind up as a pair then you should be able to keep them in the 55. the jag wil eventually need a much larger tank than a 55, and in the meantime the jag will soon reach maturity if it hasn't already and then it'll want the 55 all to itself. I'd keep the gt's and hope for the best (have a back up plan in case they start getting aggressive with each other) but I'd recommend finding a new home for the jag. :)

If those GT's are getting along atm sounds like they may be a pair. (Especially in a 10-20 gallon tank) That jag will need its own tank. Im supprised the toga beat up the Jag

To put this in perspective. I had a gt ( about 4'' ) that would get abused by my tinfoil-barbs, and this was when he was not getting pushed around by a tiny 1'' con. It was a sad sight to see, but you never know every fish has their own personality.

X3ROX, I have 2 GT's w/ My Jag (4-5") and they do just fine. Sometimes the Jag will go after the GTs if there are in his cave, I also have a 75g.

But keep in mind each fish is different...

Try it out see what happens, the jag will eventually want to take over. It dosn't matter if the jag is used to a 20 gallon, jags are very territorial and get big quickly, just wait n see.

I think that you should hang on to the GT pair and find the Jag a new home. Eventually the Jag will want all of the territory, and they can be quite convincing when fighting for territory.

Best of luck.
