would it be a bad idea to mix ropefish and bichirs or is it fine? what about with dats?

its fine to mix ropefish and bichir, as long as theres no big difference in size. the one time you need to watch out for however is if the bichir is a weeksii because they can swallow surprisingly large fish (relative to their body size), so a hungry weeksii could swallow a ropefish even if the two are about the same length.

umm i differ i lost a 12 inch rope to a 8 inch endli i walk in and my endli had the ropefishes head and half of its body already down

Your best bet to mix ropes and polys is to stick with top-jaw poly species. These polys, for the most part, max out at sizes small enough to not cause a threat to well developed ropes.

i'd be mixing them with dels and senegals, but how fast do ropefish grow? would my other bichirs outgrow them?

make sure the rope fish is at least 3 inches longer then the bichir

i have no problems so far good luck with yours
seg and del would be well suited get the rope longer then the other polys
and set up crevis or cave only the rope to go heres a pic of mine
