hi,

do you think it will be safe to mix my 5.5" ornate and delhezi with a 3" endli?
my ornate and delhezi are well fed and eats like pigs. will any aggression between the 3 occur?

thanks :)

I think it should be alright, whenever i kept any polypterus with and endli, the endli was always nippy with them but never really did any damage.

you should be ok, make sure to continue keeping them well fed, when I put small guys in I like to get something new for them to hide out in, or mix up what you already have (territory issues are usually the cause of spats) If you check the video in my signature you'll see I've got a 9-10'' ornate with some pretty small albinos 4" or so, they're growing fast though, they've put on at least an inch since they got in there, no longer concerned.
Actually my new vid I don't think I put in much ornate footage, i've got a diamond tank and they hang out in the back where it's darker, but yas I said, they're the biggest in the tank. biggest one 10"ish, i have other vids with them in it if you're inclined to look.

Elbeach, what effect does mixing up the aquarium decor have on existing fish that they accept newcomers more easily? I've seen and heard this mentioned before but I don't understand the reasoning behind it.

it's taken from cichlids and other teritorial fish. rearranging decors means each fish has to reestablish their new territory and giving the new fish chance to claim it's own. i'm not sure how well it works with bichirs since IME they're not that territorial to begin with.

just a crazy thought...
for cichlids, when rearranging the tank, dont you think it would work better if you rearrange the OUTSIDE as well (household furnitures, appliances, etc.) to reset all visual reference points? :)
