mixing carbon

is it all right to mix different brands of carbon in the same canister filter

Only use activated carbon for filter. Only use good brand. Bad brand get too much coal dust everywhere omg even people get sick from "coal dust pneumoconiosis". Shake inside bag to see how much is dust!

Short answer is yes.

Personally I wouldn't use carbon at all unless for a specific purpose(like take out medicine.); but to each his own.

You can but I would run Purigen instead if you have room for it.
