who said you can,t mix big cichlids our big guys been fine together.the bigger they get the more compatable they seem.we currently have 3 buttikoferi 14",12",10" hartwegi 8",synspillum 7",blackbelt 6",fenestratus 6",red devil 7",midas? 10",festae 4",texas",severum 4" all in a 180g.
all nice fish,,but not a good combination, when they start breeding,,and all that in a 180 gallon?
butti's getting over 20"
midas 15"minimum
festeá are real terrors and getting big also
the devils have layed eggs once, the veija's hartwegi and synspillum have bred a few times and there are a few babies in the tank too about an inch or more long now,the big butters and the small butters have attempted to spawn once too.the push and shove usually come from the devils vs the veija's hartwegi and synspillum and the big butters but never anything serious.butters could if he wanted take the tank out but he loves playing with the others and letting them boss him around.the other two butters keep to themselves and are excellent tank mates.the blackbelt and fenestratus are growing quickly and starting to mingle with the bigger fish.we have another 180g cycling at the moment and wiil most probably house the three big butters and the two juvi's we are growing up
Pretty Damn sweet. I have a fairly peaceful 240 with a Midas, Red Devil, Black Nasty, and a Motaguense all almost full grown Midas is 13", RD 11" BN is 10" and the Mota 10'' and this is the only tank I have been able to keep peaceful lol.
