Mixing Florite / Eco - complete w/ Playsand?

Hey,

I am reaching out to the MFK community anyone have an insight of using Florite or Eco- complete for a base layer of about 2 - 3inches then an inch or 2 of Playsand? I'm trying to figure out the best way to lay substrate for my 50g planted tank. Any ideas?

4-5 inches of substrate is a lot. just stick with 2-3" of flourite or eco complete

Okay, is it heavy enough to keep stuff rooted?

yeah, ive used flourite and the sand version, both held plants just fine. i just ordered eco complete for my next tank...

Yeah I was actually reading your thread! I think 2 of them actually I hope your HC goes well. Thanks for the advice.

How many bags do you think it would take to fill a 50g? 2-3?
