mixing frontosas with central americans?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Firstly, you're going to need a bigger tank than what you're listed as having for all of these to coexist as adults. Like at least 250g for 3 full grown oscars et al.

Additionally, Fronts Tanganyikans. They require high PH, especially if they're not captive bred, and the other fish you list are cichlids that like softer, more acidic (lower PH) water. So chemically they're incompatible, and probably not enough space either.

I would never. Frontosa are non aggressive. The jag or JD will end up killing it.

Not entirely true. Depends on size and attitude of the actual fish. Frontosa are definitely territorial, and are extremely conspecifically aggressive if put in the wrong m/f ratio.

And JDs don't get nearly as big as fronts, and shouldn't be too much of a threat if the sizes are OK. Oscars, on the other hand, get big and can be mean. And yeah, the jag is probably the meanest biggest thing in the tank, so obviously the greatest risk.

You'll learn when those oscars are all 14" haha, good luck! Theyre poop machines. Maybe set up a tanganykan tank for the frontosas? They love really high pH, like over 8.4. Theres a lot of cool tanganykan cichlids, inkfin calvus, ventralis, lots of juliichromis

well i have three 11+ oscars, a 10'' jack, a 5.5'' jag an 10 or 11'' sen and they are all fine in my 125 the fronts are in a 55 right now that is at 7.9 pH with rock caves and fake plants i think i might just which the 55 over to sand and call it a day

That first tank needs to be double the size. I'm sure it's all "fine" right now but you're really already over the limit of a 125 and those guys are growing. Probably not as quickly as they should be, however. Even assuming the filtration is way over the top you'll need to upgrade. Sorry to proselytize, but it's true. You probably already know this.
