Hi,

Who many of the Fly River Turtle / Pig Nosed Turtle owners out here have mixed clown loaches with your turtles?

I have heard both that they are fine and also that it is an issue for the turtle - the clown loaches will both the turtle trying to eat the slime coat off their shell.

I know the potential risk of the turtle eating / biting the loaches.

I have only had my turtle for a couple weeks now, but I do not really notice a slime coat on the shell, seems like this complaint / concern in my mind may not be accurate.

Any info would be great. I am suppose to go look at a group of large clown loaches tomorrow but do not want to get them if it will be a potential issue with my turtle.

Thanks!

What size is your turtle? Besides that possibility you should be aware that all loaches have a sharp spine under their eye that can be used for self defence. I would avoid this combo. A good comb species would be big peacefull species of cyprinids like giant danios as well as rainbow fish amoung others. You want a big school of fish. Dont forget to put on quarentine anything you ad to your tank.
