Mixing, how many cichlids is a good amount?

I have a 50g tank, and i want to have a mixed malawi tank. I currently have 10 mixed africans for about three weeks now (doing well for my first fish). I was wondering how many more i should add to tame aggression? I've heard of overstocking doing the trick, so how many more would overstock it?

How much filtration/turn over do you have?

The turnover ratio is 5, but i can turn on another filter to bring it up to 8.
I do have rocks and the tank measures 48inches long and 24 inches high.

Substrates:
Lace rock
Rocks picked out from the desert
Colorquartz sand

I change the water weekly (35%) and feed them usually once, but occasionally twice a day.

I like feeding twice a day, I think it's good for the fish. You said your aquarium is 48x24? What's the depth of the tank? That sounds larger than a 50.

oh sorry, the height is 2ft, the length is 4ft and the width is 1ft

May need more rock work to add hiding places if you add more fish but I think it looks like you could probably triple the amount of fish if you add more filtration.
