i have a 8" orino and a 9" Kelb in a 150 with 8" tarpon...recently one of my tarpon all of a sudden had many missing scales and ended up dying while and my other tarpon was pretty beaten up. all of this happened while being away from home from 5 months seasonal job. i found out the orino was the one doing this and is apparently more aggressive then he was before i left.

So now...i bought 4 cichla from a fellow MFKer all at 6 to 7" which are currently in a 75 gal waiting to be put in to the larger tank....should i even bother to put them in with the larger cichla or not bother until i buy another 180 which i am about to purchase.

Im very worried about putting the new rare cichla together even though i have 2 parrots and one large king kong parrot to help with the aggression.

what should I do?

Id try putting them together. If it doesnt pan out, put the orino in the 75 and let the rest catch up in size. Then try reintroducing.

Putting the new cichla in will spread out the aggression and might help out your tarpon. Just keep a close eye when you first introduce them and provide plenty of plants and driftwood as shelter for them. Good Luck!

thanks guys. even though they might have a chance to be eaten. another option is to power feed the four small cichla for a month or 2 and then putting them in...iv just never put cichla of different sizes in the same tank together so Im a little nervouse about it ha. i feel that having the 3 parrots will definitely help and having them all together will hopefully make the smaller cichla grow a bit faster if im correct. and yea to answer your question oscar i do have plenty of driftwood and plants so that will help too. thanks

As long as they are close in size you should be fine. I was nervous when adding mine all together as well.. The larger one was a bit aggressive at first but after a day or two all is well

the smallest bass might be 5.5" out of the 4 new ones and the larges is 6.5". my Kelberi is 9.5" and the aggressive orino is a little over 8". do you think that is close enough in size because im really not sure about it.
