Hello everyone,

Since I finally got my bigger catfish into a pond and all thats left in my 265 is my siver aro, I've decided I want peacock bass.

I also have 3 frontosa that are in there, two are 6" ones 8".

I'm picking up 5 2-3" ocellaris, and growing them in a 55gal till they are 5-6" that way my aro doesnt eat them, question is will they be fine with the frontosas? Have people mixed frontosas and pbass, and if so whats the trick?

Thanks in advance

i have always eyed frontosas, they are neat SA especially the zblues, but as long as your grow out your cichla to a decent size you should be okay. Just keep an eye. for for aggrivation from the fronts. GL

Frontosas and Pbass come from totally different water conditions and continents, frontosas like a high ph while cichla like a low ph.. the general consensus when mixing cichlids is to stick to one continent i.e sa/ca or africans.. etc..
having said that, i have seen people mix them, it comes down to what you like.. if it were me id just have the cichla and the silver aros and sell the frontosas but to each their own..
whataver you do, post pics up of the ocells when you get them :D best of luck..

If your ph is currently at 7 it may work IMO. Also what sort of decor do you have? You will also need to know how frontosas do at a temp of 87F which is a requirement for pbass.

sorry not SA more like AR....but both are right, i was just thinking of the size issure, but ph and temp would be a greater challenge, but haven't seen a aro and front mix...got pictures?

fronts don't grow very quickly. you may have a problem if they're only 6". if they are CB, they should be fine in soft water w/ a pH of 7.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... pH??????????????? kkkaaaaaaaaaappppppppppphhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwww......

PH DOESNT REALLY MATTER!!!!! WE ALL GOT HARD ARSE WATER ANYWAY!!!! I KNOW CALI DOES!!!!:D

Well my ph is neutral and the fronts have lived in that water condition for thier whole life, and I know 7 is fine for pbass......PH ISNT THE ISSUE. And I know it isnt wise to mix SA with African, hence this thread. I think I've found the answer to what I'm looking for. Thanks all.

Also the tank deco is all rockwork, tons of caves and whatnot

-= Ill post pics soon =-
