Planning on a adding a 5in tat with my 6in scomb in a 48in x15in x 24in grow out. I read scombs like to be on their own, is that true? Or does that only apply when they get older? The reason why I'm trying to add the tat is because it is already trained off live, and I figure the addition of the tat would help my stubborn scomb to get off live too.

They will be the only ones in this tank after I actually pick up the tat

Good idea? Or naw.

Probably not a good idea having just the two of them, I'd think the tat would bully the scomb. I say go for it if you can get some SD big enough to not be eaten fast so they're not alone together long.

What about a red wolf? I might order one tonight. I didn't know they were legal in Cali.. I was under the assumption that all wolves were illegal

I had a red wolf. That thing was mean didnt allow any tankmates at all. Ended up selling it. Might be different for you but keep a close eye.

Red wolf might be possible, I've seen it done, don't know the longevity of that set up. That can go either way, red wolves typically aren't much of a fighter. I can see it taking a chunk out of one of them if it's mean, or if they don't accept him they can impale him. Or everything can be fine, it's up to you to try it, if you think it's worth then risk. I think you'll be fine though. But I don't think that will help with aggression very much, I'd still advise some SD maybe tiger SD they don't get big. Big enough to avoid being a meal.

hmm sounds good. i will most likely order the wolf fish and see how it goes. and I appreciate the advice of adding some SD. I will definitely try to add some SD in there beforehand. now i must make a cage for my pothos roots ...

My wolf finally came in! So I decided to not get a payara tat due to my tank being relatively small
The red wolf is not as active as I thought it would be. All it does is hang out underneath driftwood with my bichir.

it finally swam out today and was swimming with my Hujeta, i noticed some markings on its mouth. should i add some medication? this is my first wolf and im not sure if theyre prone to getting bacterial infections and whatnot from getting damaged (i believe he tried to jump out at night and smacked the cover). I tend to heal my payara with waterchanges and keeping the water clean, i wonder if i can do the same with the wolf without using meds

Wolves are tough and heal quickly he should be alright. If he continues to attempt to jump check your heaters and any other electrical equipment, they may be releasing shock charges into the water.
