I've done some research into this and I'm not sure what really to make of it, so I'm going to pose this question to the experts (you guys). I've got 5 small C. temensis right now, no one is bigger than 3.75". Ever since I saw Azuls a couple years ago, I've always wanted some. Well I've got an opportunity to buy 3 of them. I think they're around the 4" mark. Do you think they would get along ok with my current temensis? Right now they'd be in my 75 gallon tank until sometime in May when we move, then they'd be going to a 220. I really don't want to spend big $ on Azuls only to have them die or be killed in my tank. What say you?

I say go hard and get them, I've seen your grow out so there's plenty of Cover if their still timid or getting used to the tank but I think you'll be fine..

Well the situation took care of itself, shipping charges are really high and I just can't do it right now. I hope to get some this summer maybe, the ACA is holding it's annual convention in Cincinnati (where I live) and I'm hoping maybe some might pop up there!

Shipping really high!! They don't do airport to airport?

That sucks you had to hold off man :(

$150 shipping is just too rich for my blood right now, I just bought a house, it sucks to have to hold off but I really don't need to spend the money in the first place, but does that ever stop anyone really???

i hear you...i hate pay for shipping...it blows! but if you don't live in cali you pretty much have to...lol

If you don't get them now it will be harder and more dangerous to mix later. Once those Tems get some girth on them, you'd have some real problems introducing new Cichlas, unless they are slightly larger, and a larger Azul will cost more down the road. Also, buying baby Azuls and growing them up will be a pain as well, as they would never really catch up to the Tems.

Unfortunately, now's the perfect timing, if you can spare some cash, go for it.

You speak the truth...now is perfect.

If only money grew on trees :(

Don't stress though...there will always be another time ;)

Yup, he can always give me the Tems, and he can start all over again

Well I understand the concern but right now it's just not in the cards. I'm going to probably have a maximum of 2 tanks going at the new home. One will be the plywood tank I'm going to build for the Tems and the other will be a 220 growout tank. I'm thinking I could probably grow the Azuls out and hopefully add them to the plywood tank when they're of appropriate size or maybe just have an Azul or two in the 220 by itself?
