hey people.. jus wondered whart was a safe sizedifferance for poly's?? i have a small endi, 3" and a larger ornate 8" at what size is it safe to put them in same tank?

I have had luck with my endli being 5" and putting her in with a congicus that was 12" & another endli that was 9". Right now I got 2 weeksii at 7" with that are cohabitating with 2 congicus 13", 2 endli 13" & 10", 2 koliba 16" & 12". The weeksii have not gotten eaten so far. I just make sure that everybody is well fed. Only way to find out what will happen to try it. GL!

I have seen pics on MFK a while back of an endli eating a smaller bichir.

This is one of those 'up in the air' type of things. You just don't know until you try it.

I tried putting a regular 4" sen in with my polys because that was the only size I could find available in my area right now, and my congicus decided it would make a better feeder than tankmate.

just make sure that the bigger bichir wouldn't have an idea that the small one can fit in his mouth.

i keep a few of them together and a bigger bichir will eat a smaller bichir. i have a few different species and most are mellow however some are just
bullies and attack everything including other fish. definatley stay away from wild caught with these guys if you can.(only ones ive ever seen pose a problem)just basically gotta do a test run. if there is a big size difference pay close attention as the lil guy might get tore up or killed or eaten.

i wouldnt do it
ornates will eat anything when there hungery as long as it can fit it can get a grip on wat ever it is its trying to eat
