Hi,

I have a moderately planted 29 gallon tank (30x12x18). In it I have 4 neon tetras, 1 flagfish, and a small Angelfish I added last night. The Angel is about 2 inches long and 2 inches high. I have 4 Ram cichlids that are about 1 1/2 inches. I was planning on moving them over to the 29 gallon. Do you think they are a good mix? Also would raising the temp to 84F bother the Angelfish? And I know this is probably dumb, but would they bother a 2 inch Amano shrimp? The shrimp is already in there and was not bothered by any fish, I added the Angel last night and the Angel doesn't seem to bother the shrimp and the shrimp seems unafraid of the fish. The shrimp has been in there for months with the other fish.

Thx

i dont think they will mess with the shrimp, and the rams should be fine, also that temp will be perfectly fine for the angel they like warmer temps as well, however once the angelfish is full grown those neons will be a snack, i would get a higher bodied tetra like serpaes or something, dont flagfish get like 4-5in? (i dont know much about them) but yeah stocking will be a bit tight once everything is grown but with the plants and everything it should be ok just keep a close eye on water parameters and aggression (iv only kept angelfish out of these and they can be pretty tough despite how they look, but mine were wild caught so i dont have personal experience with the behavior of captive strains, though i dont see it being that different)

Yeah I heard they can eat Neons. This Angelfish is a little guy though right now. And the Rams are still small. I will do some rearranging when the time comes, when they get too big or if there is aggression.

yeah i mean rams stay near the bottom and a 29 is pretty tall so i highly doubt aggression will be an issue (again, i dont know about the flag though)

Oh and the flagfish will probably max out at 2.5 inches. I have a pond with one in it now, and may just add this one to the pond too. But who knows, the flagfish like eating hair algae and I like to have it in the plated tank as part of the maintenance crew. Same with the Amano shrimp, but I am a little worried the Rams or Angel will harass it later.

Most if not all CA/SA cichlids - including Rams - eat shrimp in the wild... they might not eat it if the shrimp is big enough, but they will try, especially if it molts. I've kept all kinds of shrimp (ghost, amano, cherry, bamboo, vampire) and they're all eventually eaten at one point or another.

If you wanna keep rams with any shrimp, get a vampire (atya gabonensis)... they're harmless and much larger than rams.

You're right. I think right now the Shrimp is ok but I know as the Angel and Rams grow the Shrimp can be in danger. I will just move the shrimp to another tank.
