im setting up my 100gal tank and im useing black gravel i want to put black sand and maybe a little bit of white sand over part of the gravel in the tank i have a undergravel filter which im just useing it for my powerheads. so i wondering could a mix both gravel and sand and not cause any damage to powerheads and HOB filter? also doing this would it make it much harder to clean the tank?

power head yes....HOB filter maybe. sand will get sucked up from your undergravel filter cloging the grids of the UGF.just use black gravel.
