Yes, me again, one more question...

I got my six, 20 lb. bags of Caribsea sunset gold sand today. I put some of it in an empty 10 gallon and filled it with water after washing only that bag. I'm worried it maaaaay be too dark for what I was going for.

Do you guys think mixing in a bag or two of Caribsea moonlight white sand would brighten it up? Or would that look stupid? I imagine if I raked them together it'd be fine. I will be adding it to an empty tank so I can do whatever I want. My only concern is that the white sand is barely even sand, it's soooo fine. It's like flour. Would they mix poorly?

Any input? Anyone ever use the sunset gold?

I dont know about the mixing, but i really dont recommend using that sand if you have fish that will stir it up alot. I ruined a powerhead and 2 AC110 HOB impellers in the first month of using it because my fish would kick it up.

It's totaly up to you of course, but after the terrible experience i had with it, I just wanted to give you a heads up. I did consider mixing the black and white stuff together once, the white didnt last long enough in my tank to try it.

Good luck though. I'm sure it will look good.

i mixed black sand with a shell like cichlid sand it looks fine

I have had black tahitian with no troubles for a few months. I'm going to have an arowana and some catfish but the intake is going to be higher up the wall.

I mixed black and red in my old arow tank and it looked sick. I have never used the gold version before. Seems like mixing 2 of white to 1 of gold will wash it out. Dont think it will look dumn thow i like to mix sand looks cool. And if worried about the sand getting kicked up like the other guy said. I would just stuff a sponge on the intake of the hob filter. I ruined a ac110 my self on the above mentioned tank so i allways put sponges on my intakes when using sand now.

I just started puting sand in my 55 first...but i love the look so i hope to hear more of the PRO & CONS
