I just picked up a pair of green severums....im new to cichlids but i was wondering how good do different kinds of severums mix. Been looking at the super reds and the red heads........ gonna be going i to a 90 gallon with a port hole catfish and maybe a jack Dempsey. Still playing with the stock list while i get my 150 set up and fhe catfish moved to it

Never had any problem with my Red hooded vs. four turquoise blue severums along with a EBJD and blue/gold gene cross Dempsey in a 135 for over a year to date. Somebody in there killed my bullhead catfish though?

I've mixed every species of severum with no issue. Give them plenty of tank space and they should be okay. In my 210 I have a super red, three Heros sp. Atabapo, and a male notatus. In my 150 there are three notatus and a pair of Heros severus from the Orinoco.

I also had rotkeils (redheads) and turquoise severums mixed in the tanks about a year ago but I sold them.

All I can tell you is that pairs will be aggressive if they form. This is pretty much the case with any SA cichlid, though.
