hello. ive had red bellys before and caribae. from my experience i could see no difference between shyness or aggression. the laws are getting stiffer and i am going to pick up some red bellys tomorrow before the time comes when i cant get any. my question is when i use to keep them i heard alot of mixing with silver dollers of the same size with no problems. have or do any of you do this? if so any input or pictures would be much appreciated. red bellys are 5-7 inches and my silver dollers are 5-6 inches. my plan is to put about 8 rbps and my 4 dollers in my 265 gallon.

That could be iffy, depends on the temperament of the rbp, and if the sd shoal with them, id say its 50/50, Atleast sd aren't that expensive and the rbp will outgrow them, either way why not get rid of the sd and get more rbp?

Congrats on getting into the game and nice monster tank, pics when done please!

Best way is to have the pacus settle in the tank prior to the piranhas. The piranhas might just conform with the pacus nevertheless the chances of what F1 is saying is likely too.

lower the temp and keep them well fed, and hope for the best i guess.

I've tried it before. I put 3 silver dollars in with a red belly in a 29 gallon tank. They were all about the same size. About 3 inches. They didn't get along. The pirhanna beat up the silver dollars. That may be because the tank was a little small, but I don't know if that would change even with a larger tank...
