Hi all, I have kept a 15cm Senegal Bichir for a few months and would like to get another, bichirs are expensive over here and I have found an Albino Senegal thats about 20cm at a decent price, would it be ok to mix the two together? The Albino was housed with small discus at the LFS.

Buy it. IME, bichirs have always been fine together even in small (2ft) tanks. Though when I was in Sydney last November I didn't see a sign of any fish store...

Whereabouts were you in Sydney? There are loads of good LFS around, you just got to know where to look.

Try to observe their behavior at the store when selecting the bichir.

Will do, the Bichir at the LFS didn't seem at all aggressive, it was housed with small discus and it seemed pretty relaxed.

Hey just my 2 cents, but I had a senegal and I bought another one exactly 3 days after the first (the first was already eating sinking pellets) and they were the exact same size, but now my 2nd one is probably almost 1 and a half times as long and easily twice as thick. I need to find another home for the first one before he gets eaten. So if you have one and you get one more thats a little more voracious eater, you better start thinking of ways to only feed the smaller one or something otherwise you will probably only end up with one in the end.

Agreed. Polys can be greedy.
