I posted this in breeding, but figured it belongs here too. I have a small 10g that I use as a fry tank, but had three batches of Mbuna fry recently. I had about 30 demasoni and yellow lab fry that just started eating in the tank with 20 pearl mutt fry that were still attached to their egg sack and just wagging their tales. For about a week they did fine staying on their side of the tank, but as soon as they started swimming around and resting on the side with the more mature fry well you guys probably know what happened.
I went to the beach today and came back to all but 5 pearl mutts missing. All I found were their skins sitting on the tank bottom. The demasoni and yellow labs devoured them completely. I guess crushed nls was not enough. I wonder if they will grow after that protein filled meal. I was hoping that the pearl mutts would make it as I only have a mating couple in my tank and wanted to take some of the stress off my single female. Hopefully most of the remaining 5 are females.

So lesson learned is separate very small fry from larger fry.
