I have a pair of 4” Tomocichla Tuba and am really interested in a pair of 6” wild caught Vieja melanurus from Lago Peten.

Will they be compatible? I’m not familiar with the aggression of Central Americans and have heard that melanurus are more docile.

Theyare going to be sharing a 100 gallon aquarium.

Also, are the viejas called melanurus or melanura?

Agree with Jon, I have kept both species, but of the two,I find tuba can be the more aggressive, and are capable of easily iviserating a melanurum, especially since they already hold the entire tank as territory. And if they are an established and compatible pair, adding another cichlid is probably not a wise move for the new comer.
And your tuba have a lot of growing left to do, so a larger tank (as Jon said) will be needed in the future just for the tow of them and maybe non-cichlid dithers..
My 12" female tuba killed two males before selecting a 3rd to spawn with, in a slightly larger tank, and after spawning killed the 3rd male.
Here she is below with wrigglers.
