I recently recieved a red bellied piranha and am housing him in a 20 gallon tank. Now, I love Attila, but the tank seems lonely with a single fish in it. Today I came across a carnivorous fish that gave me excitegasms((I loved them that much)) They were Snakeheads. My dillema is, I desperately want to buy one of the snakeheads, but i'm worried Attila will tear his ass apart. I was thinking of buying a seperator net and splitting the tank in two until the snakehead is bigger, but even once he did grow, would they still fight?

Anyway, i'm just wondering if I can get some info on mixing fish. And if not snakeheads, is there something else I can mix with Attila that he won't kill, and won't kill him?

depends what kind of snakehead and how big

if it is the same size as the P it might get killed but since its a red belly it might get killed if the SH is a red line

o and that tank is way to smal for a SH and P

you need atleast a 75

I think it probably looked the most like this one:

And currently it's smaller than my piranha. The guy at the pet store said that in a 20 gallon he'll likely only double in size, so he'd still be relatively smaller than Attila, maybe a bit longer though.

thats a channa micropeltis
they get over 3'
so yeah a 20 gallon is way to small for him

but yeah he will try to kill the P if he gets a little bigger than him which will be about a month or so, or the P will just eat him

but you shouldnt get that SH they gt way too big
i would just keep the P

I've seen how big they can get but keep in mind a fish will only grow in proportion to the home it lives in, really.

And can a snakehead really kill a piranha? Their mouths are so small lol.

Yes they can. Also whoever told you that is wrong. Such false information.

Well thanks guys, you've helped. I am really disappointed though...those snakeheads were awesome =(

red snake heads will out grow the tank man they just get real big and nasty.i keep 3 of them in a 9x4x4 ft custom built tank.they started as babies in a 36x18x18 inches.they get big fast too.
