Mixing with Mazuri

Today I just got in 1Kg of Mazuri Shark/Ray gel.
I've never used it before, and have a small batch sitting in the fridge overnight.

I was wondering, could you mix things into the gel? I was thinking about grinding up some snapper and shrimp meat to mix into the gel. Would this be an ok/smart thing to do?

You can, but don't need to.
If you want to add stuff, blend it to a fine slurry and mix in about 1/3 of what you use for water. If you add too much it won't set up. You can toss it in the freezer, too.

I'm wanting to do it just to add more smell/flavor. My ray won't touch the stuff, so I figure more of a fishy smell will make her go for it

Add a little juice to the mix - silver sides, squid or salmon.

I ground up snapper, clams, and shrimp to mix into the Mazuri.
I did approximately 40% powder, 40% meat, and 20% water. I'm hoping that I'll still end up with a good solid gel

Do you guys regularly use mazuri

I use liquid supplements and soak overnight into shrimp twice weekly. Ive been very temped to buy mazuri over the years but they don't have suppliers in Canada. Do you guys like the product is it worth me bringing in ? Was looking at the mazuri pills actually I didn't ever understand the reason to feed your sharks or rays the gel form.

It looks like the small Cortez is finally eating it, but the two large Cali's still want nothing to do with it. I think I'll just not feed them for a few days and try it again to see if they'll go for it when they're hungrier.

Any input on this one Zoodiver?

I use the gel alot for smaller sharks (like bamboos and other benthics) and rays. The Shark/ray tabs I use on all elasmobranchs - from bamboos to sandtigers. I've found nothing better (so far).

I think you are doing the right thing by waiting them out. See if it works.

does any one want to send some Mazuri over to Perth, West Aus, for a fee , I can not get the stuff any where in Aus, very frustrating
