This is Moby my mbu puffer that I picked up about a month ago this was a dream fish of mine for years and the second I heard some were going to be coming in from the Congo I started preparing for him he’s about 3-4 inches now I was going to start him out in a smaller tank, but then I just went ahead and started him out in a 90 gallon to save from having to move him too many times but as soon as I got him home, I noticed he had gotten ich and now that I had put him in such a large tank to start out treating him was not easy. I had to use two whole bottles of treatment. It took about three weeks he contracted ich twice!! But is doing amazing now i have lots of plants on the way for him now and a new light he can do just fine in this tank for a good while before needing an upgrade , i got tired of going to the local fish shop that I work at on Saturdays and having to catch hundreds snails of pest snails for him to eat and he is finally accepting frozen foods!.. was not easy to get him to transition lol he’s a picky little guy Frozen shrimp and frozen crayfish ! , Of course he still gets hard shelled treats to file down his beak as needed. If anyone else has mbu pics and setups to share I’d love to see IMG_4619.jpegIMG_4618.jpegIMG_4617.jpegIMG_4610.jpegIMG_4614.pngIMG_4615.pngIMG_4619.jpegIMG_4618.jpegIMG_4617.jpeg

They do start cute!
Mine was that size 6 years ago, it’s over 2ft now.
I hope you have at least a 500 gallon tank ready...
Not exactly a tank I have 300 gallon stock tank in the garage over 6 ft all the way around once he’s ready for that and I’ll surely upgrade to something bigger than 300 gal once the time comes !

Save the funds for the intermediate tank and just get the “last” tank!
My 84-42-30”h 450 is too small
I already own the stock tankc, and filtration for it
There’s a guy that lives in Indiana about 45 minutes away from me and he has a 540 gallon custom acrylic aquarium. He doesn’t want too much money for it and he’s had it available for about two years and no one has come to buy it I’ve considered getting it The stock tank is in my garage running right now with turtles in it, but I would have to move it inside for the puffer with my other tanks I wouldn’t want him living outside in the garage.

One thing I have considered is just getting 600 gal stock tank for him Because idk if it would be possible to get a 540 in my basement I’ll def figure something out tho
