Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone has seen any sources on modifying an in ground pool for fish keeping. Seems like it is just a freebie if you can figure out the heating for it.

I would rather change mine over to a kick ass pond, but the landlord would prob not like that. also sometimes the water temp here in my pool goes over 95 degrees....that fish cooking, not keeping.

Heating in the summer is easy, in the winter is a different story. A pool heater will do the trick in the warmer months, in the winter, it will never keep up.

A pool heater in the winter will do plenty to keep it warm. Most people dont because you end up with a $500 gas bill every month. Back when I did pools this one rich lady did this. Kept the pool at 90 year round. She now closes it in the fall because of the $500 gas bill each month.

Nobody uses it anymore. It sits there and does nothing.

If I can figure out an efficient way to keep it, it will be cheaper than going pond, and you can swim in it -.o

Be careful swimming in it.... deodorant, residual shampoo, perfumes....

You would want to shower carefully before diving in.

I stand corrected and admire your wisdom! I am still not sure my pool heater could keep up with my pool in the winter but it is electric. I imagine if you used gas or a over sized heater you could do it.

I have seen it done but they did not run the pumps or heaters. they shut down the pool and threw in a bunch of feeders. it ran like this for years before he built a pond and fixed the pool.
