I haven't posted here for a long time because I've been very busy with school and work.
Mokes are the slowest growers of Polypterus by far. My LFS got in some Mokes the other day, they are about 3" and they are charging $70 a piece, which I think is fair.
My 125g is currently stocked with:
8" Endli
3.5" albino sen
7" Oscar

The endli has been growing very slow because he is very shy and has never eaten much so he really doesn't worry me. The oscar on the other hand worries me a lot.
I'm wouldn't put the moke in the 125g right away, that's for sure. I have an empty 20g tank for him to grow out first.
So actually I have two questions:

How long would it take for the moke to get to 6" in a 20g tank with w/c twice a week and a good, protein rich diet?

Also.. is 70 bucks really fair for a 3" moke?

$70 is a pretty good price for any moke, I've seen prices that are both higher and lower. There's really no way of knowing how long it would take for one to grow, each individual poly grows at a different rate. I've had two mokes for a little over a year now, and they've both grown about 5-6". With the right conditions and a good individual, I'd bet that a moke could grow 3" in around half of a year, maybe less.

Thanks Adam. I was asking for the "normal" growth of a moke, I know every poly has it's own growth rate. But thanks :D

Yeah, I figured that you did but I just went ahead and said that in case anyone else was curious. Did you decide to get the moke?

doesnt really matter if you stick em in a growout that oscar and endli are gonna grow faster, by the time your moke is 6" your oscar will be at least 11-12 at the very least, probably bigger, and depending on your endli it may or may not have a growth spurt and dwarf it as well. oscars will definitely try to eat him so if it were me i would only get it if i had another tank to keep him in for life or at least for several years to get full grown (even then i feel its a risk with a full grown O)

I ordered some for his next shipment. As they will be available all summer. They will probably arrive in about 6 weeks. Which is great because then I can cycle the tank well. He orders from Neil Hardy.

I know. I will probably just put a divider in the 125.

Had my Moke from 3" and grew to 9" in 14 months. Then I did not see any sign of growth for a year so I sold it.
Too bad you sold it though, a 9" moke is impressive!
