Well we are getting ready to have mold taken care of in our attic and I am trying to figure out what I should do?

2 years ago when the blizzard hit Chicago our roof took some serious damage. My HOA took forever to repair it and mold started growing in the attic. Now that we are getting ready to sell our townhome it is time to have it professionally taken care of.

I have way to big of tanks to just break them down and move them into the garage so I was wondering. Has anyone ever dealt with this? Should I be worried about the chemicals getting into the air and making it to my tanks? They are going to seal off all entrances to the attic but I am still concerened. Should I tent the tanks off with plastic just to be safe? What does everyone think?

That's a good question. First off I have no idea. That said, I heard about someone painting there house and the tank water absorbed the paint fumes and they lost all the fish. What do they do just kind of "bug bomb" the attic or is it a physical removal? Or a combo of both?

I'm guessing you could duct tape clear plastic over/around it, and run air pumps from outside through your window and under the plastic. Assuming it's freshwater, just leave the lights off and only run electric to what's mandatory. How big are the tanks? You said they'll seal all the enterances to the attic, does that include duct work?

Like I said I have no idea, but we can come up with a plan and when someone who knows comes along see how far off we were :D - N

Hello; I have seen home improvement shows on mold removal. One way they can clean it is with dry ice pellets shot from a nozzle with air pressure. They also take care to control the dust and airborne mold that results. My guess is that a talk with the outfit that is to do the remediation will shen some light on the potential problems. If the mold is only in the attic it may not be an issue for the tanks.
