Molluscivore payara?

Today I was watching my fish tank and there was a little pond snail slowly swimming up the front glass panel. Then my tat comes flying out of a hiding place and tries to eat the snail off of the glass. It looked just like a dog running into a sliding door to catch a squirrel.

I wish I had my camera at that moment.

Has anybody else ever had payara who tried to eat/ate a snail?

thats why i love payara, they get very aggressive and will start chasing you when u enter the room

i never had snails though...

I don't really worry about snail infestations too much. I can get assassin snails at work and they work great. In every tank I introduce them, the snail population drops to however many snails I put in.

I think this snail must have come from my new dwarf amazon sword. From the other two I only introduced one trumpet snail.

I tried to drop a snail in to see if he would try to eat it, but the light on the lid slid and he swam away . I read that they can take long to get used to a new tank. Mine is much more outgoing than my scomb was, and doesn't really stalk his food for as long as my raph did. He does hide during the day a lot, but when I put feeders in and when I turn the lights off he comes right out front. I am hoping after a while he stops hiding when he is not being fed as well.

Totally agree, I usually dont pay much attention to sig's less its brought up, in this case it was.. and a great read at that.. Great work
