Does anyone know if a shortfin molly will be okay at room temp? I have a little tank i could use, but I don't have a heater for it. The reason for the move is that im giving up a lot of my current fish, except for:
-One Gibbiceps Pleco :naughty:
-One unidentified pleco :naughty:
-Keyhole Cichlid :grinyes:
-This dalmation molly, which was a present to me.

Anyhow, my room is at around 26'C (80'F) pretty much constantly, but I don't know if water will stay that warm. I wan't to get a nice Cichlid for the current tank which my fish are housed in, such as a firemouth (but it might be something else), but I think the molly will get bullied.

Thankyou.
Paul :headbang2

What size of tank is it that your putting the mollie into? I know that there are some really small heaters that you can get at Big Al's.

You'll be fine. If the ambient temperature in the room is 80*, the water temperature won't be too far behind. Expect 75-77*.

Do-able if the temp stays in the mid 70s (F) to about 80 (F)
I would definately add some salt though since mollys are notorious for getting ick in the lower temp. range.

mollies would be ok i think paul... duno about the winter but the gibbys not going to be in the little tank rite??

mollies and most live bearers can stand a temp anywere from the negatives to 110' but just like us they like it about the middle 80 is perfect

oh yea id prolly shoot myself if my room was 80 all the time
