ok so i was setting up a 5gallon tank i got from my moms garage.. just wanted another tank no real reason... i get it set up all but a filter, took water from my 20 gallon so its ready right now.. and then i go and look at the tank after i filled it up with water again.. then i notice my molly goin up and down like crazy.. then i remembered something on the forums here and thought she might be giving birth.. so i get her in the net and 4 pop out...for the first i though she was pooping but it came out to fast then im like kool... a baby.. now i have the female molly with 4 fry in the 5gallon in the kitchen on the counter ((going to move when i find a place... it was a spur of the moment thing.. kinda like road trips XD)) Oh ya and a small common pleco i bought today.. i was going to replace it with the big one in my 20g.. but i guess not.

Some how i got lost in the post... a WTF moment.. ok so my question is will the female molly eat the babies... and what do i feed them?? i read crushed flakes... im asking cuz a few months ago i had two female mollies give birth like on the same day.. some many little guys.. like 12 and i have 4.. i think the others got eaten this time around... oh ya any pointers will be helpful

oh ya the filter im looking at is at walmart and it just sticks to the side of the tank

is it good?? as a side question XD

They'll eat after a few hours and their mother will easily go after them.

You should get those birthing nets.... She should have a bunch more. When I had them they had like 10 to like 12 I couold never get a good figure cause the shark ate them... *shrug*

oh ya any bottom feeder good with fry?
Bristlenose plecos, clown plecos, otocinclus (not exactly a bottom dweller), corydoras, kuhli loaches, snails.

I'm curious about your signature...

"20 gallon high
1- pleco, 1- dragon goby"

Is this a brackish tank? From the inhabitants, I assume no? I would do some research about that Dragon Goby. I believe they require brackish water eventually. Just my opinion...

Black shes done i dont think i got to her in time.. i only saved 5. Im guessing the others got eaten be cause when i had her in the net the strawberry tetra tried to bite a fry through the net..

Lupin i was thinking of a cory, thanks

gero, no its not a brackish tank and i know the dragon goby needs brackish when it gets bigger... also it can get up to 2 feet and should be in a 70+ gallon aquarium. But i dont have room for that size of tank and i dont plan on making a brackish aquarium anytime soon
