Does anyone know how long a molly can be in labor for? My gold dust molly had about 5 fry around 11 am and she is still pretty fat and her gravid spot is still dark she is still acting a bit odd as well. (ie hiding and having spurts of heavy breathing.)

some times a few hours
sometimes a day or two
just give her time and dont stress her out
i noticed not to turn on or off lights when theyre having labor
switching them on and off stresses em out

I turned the light on this morning to check on my other fry (30+ as of last week lol) and noticed she was hiding. I kept the light on as usual just for that reason. I am just glad that it can take a day or two because I've read it should only take up to 3 hrs which seemed a bit unrealistic to me. Thanks for the reply!

Most human births last a shorter time then livebearing births. One time my swordtail had 23 fry at 6 in the morning and finished at 9:30 or so. I came back home after 6 hours at a friends house and she continued to spit out another 14 fry. By the end of the night, she had a total of 49. The next day I had them and they were in a grow out tank but got sucked up by the filter. 1 survived and I still have him to this day.

Thanks again for the help. It didn't appear that she had anymore fry but it is hard to tell with so many spots for them to hide. Not only did the poor girl have a long labor but now we are fighting fin rot. :-(
