Hi,

I was wondering if 2 different spicies of mollyies can reproduce?

Like lets say I have an orange molly and a black molly, can these 2 reproduce?

Also will the future fry (if possible) be able to have kids?

I think that 2 different species of mollys can breed.

There are a few species of mollies in the aquarium trade, but more than likely your orange and your black molly are the same species - just color variation through selective breeding.
If this is the case, they will certainly breed and offspring should be viable.

Well they most certainly can, but as WahooWillie said, they're most likely to not me mixed, but there's still hop. There's a 35% chance out of 100% that they will mix a new pattern!

yes you can. i did it when i had some in my old 55 gal.

they can reproduce that question to be honest with you to me, maybe its the mood I'm in tonight was asking me if a white horse could breed with a black horse.

Like what everyone else said...it'll breed no problems..

i agree. also it may take several batches of fry before you get any difference in coloration. reason being, female molly's are able to store sperm of the males for several batches of fry. if you have a female black in with a community of other black molly's then more than likely she will have alot of black male sperm stored. that sounds so funny. i forget what this ability is called. thats why a female can keep producing fry even if she is by herself. i don't know how many times this continues until she runs out of storage. you would have to have a virgin female to breed with a colored male to produce colored fry.
