Hey Guys!!!! My Crayfish just molted today. But is it natural that it develops a white fungus looking thing on its head?:confused::confused: It kinda looks like a white flat-top haircut. Its looks weird..

Pics to follow.

Help guys!

after the picsmight be able to tell you, it does sounds a little odd tho

Definitely looks fungal... some bacteria look like fungi, but I could see a soft, stressed crayfish molting and an opportunistic infection occurring. The exoskeletons are chitin too, which is a good substrate for some fungi.

Nice looking crayfish :) I've had one for 4 years, and they are fun creatures.

Definitely looks fungal...I wonder if you could scrap it off?

Keep the tank extremely clean. It should clear up with the next molt.

You could try to dab a little bit of listerine on it as that should not hurt the cray. I would be cautious with any tank meds though as many of them are harmful to inverts. I know there are some safe treatments, can't remember the meds off the top of my head though...

i would try to softly brush it off
