Hey Guys, I've ben doing plenty of research so far on saltwater fish. I've just ordered a few books off of Barnes And Nobles. My mom was telling me the possible tank we can purchase, these tanks include the following:

20 Gallon Long- 30in. by 12in. by 13in.
40 Gallon Breeder- 36in. by 18in. by 13in.
90 Gallon Long- 48in. by 18in. by 25
120 Gallon Long- 48in by 24in by 25
125 Gallon Wide- 72in. by 24in. by 17in

Red Goal

Well my mom is interested in very colorful fish such as clown fish, basselts and tangs.
I'm interested in predatory fish such as lions, eels, groupers and sharks (I don' think any shark will be able to thrive in these tanks)

Well as of right now I'm trying to make a list for each of these tanks. For example in the 20 long I would put in:

- 1 Wart Skin Angler
Don't know any other fish that can thrive with the angler as you can see that was my choice and my mom is into peaceful fish or any fish with many colorations.

Can you help me with tank suggestions for each of the tanks? Please Help

would it be posible that you could two 2-3 of the smaller tanks?
they'd approximately equal something like a 120 or 125 in price...

the 120 would make a GREAT reef tank
and the 125 would be good for a pred tank

MY ideas for each tank would be something like:
20L- pred artskin or other smallish angler, or snarphnose puffer and/or filefish (depending on their temperments)
20L- comm clown pair, royal gramma and a watchman/pistol shrimp combo
40B  (my favorite size) pred radiata or fu manchu lionfish, lizardfish, sharpnose puffer?
40B- comm 4-5 chromis, dwarf angel, gramma, jawfish(pair?) candy hogfish
90 pred, at this size you could merry the pred and community ideas, small group of dwarf lions, angler, small eel, tangs, butterflies, anthias, etc so long as all fish are too big to be swallowed they should be fine

Thanks now thats what I'm talking about! Any other suggestions are also appreciated...now I will research the fish you suggested.

any reef safe fish would be good for all the tanks for predators you'll have to research a bit on tank size's and what your into wartskin would be great alone as a species tank for the 20 gallon or mantis shrimp. They rest of the tanks are either way going to have to go with fish that will be compatible and size of setup.

yeah there was a little typo in my answer, it's Wartskin angler not Artskin. don't go googling artskin anglerfish, you wont find anything lol

dude let your mom plan the stocking you size the tank it will make for a killer sweetness factor in days to come when you get to add another tank of your liking

My suggestion to starting your first S/W is to get the biggest tank you can get now. I would not do a 20G long for a beginning tank go with a 40G and up.

Besides wanting to upgrade later on which you will want to, larger tanks will be more forgiving to your beginner mistakes. More water would mean an easier and less time spent to keep the water parameters especially salinity more stable than a smaller tank.

Get the largest tank that you can afford to set up with good equipment and afford the upkeep. Do not cheap out on saltwater equipment. Do you want corals? I have a 90 gallon reef and a 30 gallon reef, the 90 has all community fish and the 30 has a dwarf lion. To give you quick information, if you want predatory fish that you will be able to see, you need a big tank. Dwarf lions do not like to swim, they just hang out on rocks in the shade, they are better for a species only tank. I would go with the 125 gallon and have 2 grouper and a lionfish and later on when you have more experience you can try a smaller sized eel. Are you puting rock in this tank or will it just be a FO tank?
