As many of you know i am building a monitor enclosure.. Welli reached a snag, after all the building and all that stuff, i realized I didn't plan a way to hook up the heat lamps. I have no experiance with electrical wiring and stuff like that. All I know is how to plug sometihng into an extention cord.. Sad i know. but i bout lights like these

and for some reason i thought they plugged into an outlet..
But they don't so i was wondering if there is a plug that i can attach the back wires to and just basically plug them into an extention cord or plug in.??
Other wise i am going to have to ]run like 6 heat lamps in the enclosure to one extention cord and connectors..

any thought or anything?

It can be done, but depending on the length of cord and the amount of power those lights draw you will need a certain gauge of wire. You should be able to do this with a regular 14gauge wire extension cord.

I agree, just wire them like you would with a plug into a wire, then whack a plug onto the other end.

Should be that simple.

If you are not sure, do as mentioned, and ask at you local DIY place, they will sell you the bits required.

Try and get a plug like this one, on the top right..

Thats what I use to power the main light in my garage (see below), means you can have them plugged in at all time, and control them from a switch, not just by unplugging them.

if you are wiring them to a switch(light switch) hook the black wire to the gold screw.. if you are going to add a plug again hook it to the gold screw.. if you are just going to cut the end off of a broken dvd player or something hook the black wire from the lamp to the bigger prong...

if its got a ground(green) it always gets hooked to green...

basic home electrical is all pretty standard and color coded..
black wire to black wire or gold screw
white wire to white wire or silver screw
green wire to green wire or green screw

if yer not sure or if everything is the same color just post some pics of what youve got to work with

alright cool, alot more simple than i thought.

I'll try to find those plugs.
you mean the white thing right?

your plugs are going to be different since you are in the US (110v vs 220v in the UK)..
powerstrips are great and usuially have a built in fuse or breaker... the fuse ones are usuially cheaper (which is nice) but the down side is you have to replace the fuse when you blow it... the ones with the breaker are usuially a bit more money but all you have to do is flip the switch and it will work again..

the ones with the breaker will say "reset" next to the on/off switch
