I plan to be away for a few months and I plan to shutdown my fw and sw tanks.

My fish will be going to my friends tanks. With the exception of the monos as there about 8 inches high and won't fit in a 60 gallon.

My question is can I convert them back to fw and put them in his 500gallon fw? I bought them as quarter sized in fw, grew them close to 6 inches then acclimatized then to sw slowly over two weeks?

So can I revert them back or should I just trade them in to the lfs?

At that size, they probably won't appreciate fresh water. If your LFS has a brackish system running, ask them if they can keep them while you're away.

At 8 inches, though, they should be able to tolerate sea water, so if you want to, try to acclimate them to a marine tank, either at the LFS or with a friend.
