G'day

I am keeping 2 Peacock Bass (16cm) and a Motoro Ray (14cm disc). The 2 Bass have always appeared very friendly. It was like that for about a month, then one day the male Bass with the hump started puffing his gills out and colouring up at the other fish. He also goes to bite him/her sometimes now, and I noticed a tiny mark from a bite on it's side.

Also when I got home today, I noticed a tiny bit of damage on the back of the rays disc, from being bit. . . which seems odd, they have been fine in the tank together for about 6 weeks. I initially had the Bass with the hump + the Stingray in the tank, I later added the second Bass.

That's them, the one with the hump is being the aggressor, not sure on the other ones sex.

It's nothing too serious.. but I am just confused. Really didn't like seeing the Stingray getting involved now too!

Cheers

Normal when theres a new addition, and it may be a territorial issue......Good luck

I would get rid of it or move the aggressor to another tank..... my concern is that its not only being aggressive towards its own kind, but has bitten the stingray.... that's a no no in my book. And although it's not too serious at the moment, it can get worse.... I wouldn't risk it.

Keep an eye on things for a few more days and if things still dont settle down try moving the agressive bass. Id be worried about the ray, but Im sure if it thought its life was in danger it wouldve turned around and stung the bass....

Thanks for the replies.

It's odd as they were all fine and happy for a month, and the problem bass = ray have been together even longer. The only thing I changed is added a new piece of wood to the tank. . . He just gives the other bass a little chase every so often, then they instantly proceed to swim happily together.

Thanks
