i know the mono. Sebae are supposed to be brackish but is it possible to keep them in a freshwater community? could I just add a little marine salt or would that be detrimental to the freshwater fish?
I really want to keep a couple of these so any help would be much appreciated!

I wouldn't do it.. Especially with any plecos. They cannot tolerate any salinity at all. Monos are born in fresh water but require a higher and higher SG as they mature. Adults can be kept in full marine conditions so "a little marine salt" won't do the fish any good for it's long-term health. Here's a pic of the similar looking, fresh water Altum Angelfish..

Ok thanks for the advice. I'm going to keep them in freshwater with a little extra salt for now and maybe down the road I'll put them in a better setup.
