This guy is putting on some size now. I've got him eating shrimp, tilapia, krill, and pellets. What's the consensus on ID? I'm thinking Mono, but not sold just yet. I know its F1 out of Taiwan, but everything else is a mystery...

I'd say to small to tell. But I'm not so sure I'd say Mono yet, as I think it may be a mutt or something else.

I have two from the same batch... I see yours have even lost the yellow spotting in the top fins now... Mine are still speckled and don't appear to be losing it or getting anymore but certainly haven't developed the body speckling that orinos get at around 4" Mine are around 6" already... Yours seems kinda small in the pic, guessing 3.5"??

I agree with bassguy, defiantly a mutt / more Mono trates then anything so far and defiantly NOT two spot Orinos as they were sold to people!!

I just moved him into my datnoid tank with some other cichla so he hasn't settled down yet. He's still spangled on his top fin, but nothing wild. Who knows what they will turn into. In Aquascape's defense, these came in as "golden orinocensis". At 1-2", its tough to say otherwise.

...and you nailed the size at 3-4". He was stubborn to get off of blackworms so he went a week or two without eating regularly. He's putting on size now. I can't wait to throw my azuls in the mix and see how the gang does.

wuddup bradda.. I didnt know you got back into cichla.. did you see what they had at shark aquariums lest week for a good price ;)
