At the LFS I work at somebody brought me a Mono Argenteus. From my understanding these fish go from fresh to brackish to marine. Mines about 4" top to bottom and around 4" long. How would you go about switching this guy? I have a 150g FOWLR tank I plan to put him in eventually.

Exactly numbers of SG and the amount of time to leave him in each SG for switching him would be ideal.

Thanks much guys!

The recommended increase is .002 per week, although a fish at that size .004 per week works too. Just keep doing this until you're at your marine SG.

Is the mono currently in fresh. Just try drip accimilating the fish to full marine. I did this with a green spot puffer and everything worked out fine.

Yea hes in fresh atm. How long did you drip acclimate him? Im guessing a few hours?

The acclimatization can either take hours (with the drip), or over a few weeks, where you change the whole tank strong brackish/marine, changing the SG by .002 to .004 every week. This ensures that the bacteria don't get wiped out, but the new bacteria - adapted to saltier environments - can take over your bio filtration.

just drip aclimatize it in a bucket over a few hours. it should be fine. just keep an eye out for any signs of stress. ease up if it doesnt look happy.

or raise the sg of the tank .002 a week till you hit marine.
