Okay - I've identified my 3 pink eels as being Monopterus albus. Today at a LFS I found 3 baby (foot long) BROWN eels. They were called Peruvian Swamp Eels (Which technically is a Synbranchus) But they look more like Monopterus to me.

Does anybody (Oddball maybe?) know what Synbranchus looks like at such a small size? Some baby photos to compare of each, would be awesome! From here, they DO look more like Monopterus...

Thanks

If you are talking monopterus alba, it has a sharply tapered and pointed tail as opposed to more gradually tapered and less pointy tail of the synbranchus marmorata. the head of the synbranchus is generally flatter as well. here are a couple pics, the bottom is a juvie synbranchus

Hey, thanks for the response! Is the baby Syn yours? If so, would you be able to get me a better photo of the tail on yours? In the photo, it's kind of hard to compare it to the Monopterus. A close up of your baby's head would also probably be great if you can swing it. Thanks a bunch.

Santoury,

This juvie was mine... Around 10 inches long in that pic. Here are some more pics of it, and of another one at the same size. Maybe any of these is useful to you. :D

Oh, last pic is of a 4-inch baby, BTW. ;)

Best regards.

Daniel.
